Oof! The ending is like a kick in the gut. I love the whole last chunk and the foreshadowing of loss at the very end. Macabre, yet funny. A nice balance you’ve struck there! I also applaud your efforts to use Medium’s typography to enhance your story. I think the BOOM!, and italic obit work nicely visually.
