Meet Skimm MD. After our No Excuses: Healthcare campaign that launched last year, we wanted to continue to check in on how our Skimm’rs feel about their health choices and make sure they’re informed about options.

Up first: reproductive health. Because it matters to our audience. In fact, 62% of you told us you plan on having kids in the future, but more than half of you aren’t ready justttt yet. We also found that only 36% of Skimm’rs on the pill feel “very knowledgeable” about how it’s preventing pregnancy.

There are a lot of Qs around reproductive health and we want to provide some As. So for the next week, you’ll see content dedicated to different areas of this topic across all of theSkimm’s platforms.

What will I see?

Each day will focus on a specific topic including birth control, fertility options and struggles, childbirth, and parental leave. We’ll do a deep dive on each topic, breaking down the terms and issues you told us you wanted to hear more about.

You’ll see explainer videos from Skimm Studios on topics like how the birth control pill works, how IVF works, and on parental leave around the world.

You’ll see interviews with newsmakers like outgoing Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, who sat down with us to talk women’s access to reproductive healthcare, the ongoing fight to ‘defund’ the organization, and what’s next for her.

You’ll see first-person accounts from Skimm’rs, who were generous enough to share their pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum experiences with us.

Why is this a big deal?

theSkimm’s mission is to make it easier to live smarter. That means helping Skimm’rs feel more informed about their everyday lives and their futures. And we’re just getting started.

This is something new for us and we’re so excited to share it with you.

Feedback? We’d love to hear it at editorial@theskimm.com.
