Adidas ended the year of 2015 strong with the release of the Adidas NMD. The NMD is a masterpiece of Nic Galway, a 16 year veteran at Adidas and the man who helped develop the Yeezy Boost line with Kanye West.

In the design of the Adidas NMD, the Adidas Micro Pacer, Rising Star and Boston Super have been referenced.

However, the Lego-like blocks on the shoe are not just a nod to the Adidas Micro-Pacer, it has a specific purpose.

These blocking elements provide support in the BOOST foams and the elements on the upper part provide some level of structure to the Primeknit upper.

The Adidas NMD doesn’t consists of the signature 3 stripes that most Adidas shoes have. So one of Galway’s goals was to make the shoe recognizable from far away. Galway sure did achieve his goal.

Although both the Adidas NMD and UltraBOOST consist of the BOOST technology, one thing the designers didn’t want to do was to make the NMD look like a copy of the Adidas UltraBOOST.

NMD COLLABORATIONS

The NMD line initially started without collaborations and succeeded. However, Adidas started to do collaborations of the NMD with Pharell Williams and it became an extremely popular and hard-to-cop sneaker.

As accepted by many, the NMD is one of the best sneakers in the world and it is important to note the NMD’s are flexible, comfortable, light and has a minimalistic look. This is why this sneaker is loved and sought after by many.
