The church, which is said to have originated from this phrase, is regarded as the home of the patriotic Filipinos who battled against foreign rule during the period.

Former president of Bulacan Historical, Inc. Jose P. W. Tantoco offers an alternative interpretation of the name Barasoain, stating that it originated with the missionaries who arrived to this town from a site in Spain that has the same name, namely the town of Barasoain in the District of Navarra.

The Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, commonly known as the Barasoain Church, has persevered as a timeless symbol of faith, tenacity, and historical significance despite its humble beginnings.

Presently, it functions as a dynamic memorial, honoring the resilient essence of the Filipino people.

Constructed in 1859 via the tireless efforts of the Augustinian Missionaries, the Barasoain Church was specifically designed to cater to the requirements of the Roman Catholic populace. It has received significant praise for its exquisite craftsmanship and stunning architecture.

Nevertheless, the church was destroyed by fire during the turbulent 1800s Philippine Revolution; nevertheless, the eerie beauty of the Barasoain Church persisted in enthralling everyone who saw it.

It has had several reconstructions and repairs throughout the years, yet its mysterious appeal never faded.

Because of its long history, the Barasoain Church is deeply ingrained in the hearts of Filipinos. One of the most significant religious buildings in the whole Philippines, it is regarded as the Cradle of Democracy in the East.

Its mythical significance is further enhanced by the fact that it is well-known for being General Emilio Aguinaldo’s home.

Barasoain Church is particularly significant in Philippine history because it was the location of the First Philippine Congress, the inauguration of General Emilio Aguinaldo and President Joseph Estrada, as well as the drafting of the Malolos Constitution in 1899. Over the years, the church has played a pivotal role in many important events.

It is a tribute to the perseverance and tenacity of the Filipino people, serving as a symbol of the “birthplace” of Philippine democracy and marking an important milestone in the country’s development.
