In an unexpected turn of events today, December 11, students at Bulacan State University (BulSU) found themselves barred from entering the campus by security guards, specifically main gate.

The closure is in conjunction with the ongoing Solemn Investiture of Dr. Teody C. San Andres, the newly appointed President of Bulacan State University.

According to Janine Barlos, a student from the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), she planned to pass her final requirements for On-the-job Training (OJT) and did not expect denial in entrance.

“‘Di po namin alam na hindi pala pwedeng magpapasok [sa campus], e wala naman pong binabang memo,” said Barlos.

“Galing pa po akong Sta. Maria, sayang po ‘yung biyahe,” she added.

It can be recalled that the BulSU Office of Student Affairs and Services released a memorandum on December 6 in view of the solemn investiture of the University President, stating students who have no official affiliation with the event are not permitted to entry today, December 11. Despite the handed down guidelines, no other details were provided regarding the gate closure.

Originally, today is the start of the BulSU Foundation Week. However, the office also stated in the memorandum that student preparations and ingress for foundation week shall resume at 3 p.m. upon the re-opening of campus gates.
