This is fantastic news on multiple fronts. While the Boeing 787 and the Airbus 380 made incremental technological advances, including improved fuel consumption, they didn’t reinvent the wheel. Boom is reinventing the wheel, and that is exciting news indeed.
I flew on Air France’s Concorde round-trip between New York JFK and Paris CDG. The flight was short, noisy, and very uncomfortable. When you were buckled into that cramped seat it was very hard to move or get to the restroom.
The true success of this new revolutionary plane will depend on whether supersonic transport remains the province of the well-heeled top 1%, or if it’s accessible to the masses. Regardless, I know that I’ll be pulling for you!
