You’re the first white essayist I’ve read display some spine (re: last paragraph) AND good reasoning AND not be a self-flagellating, guilt-ridden mealy mouth. We can’t choose our parents (i.e. our “race”) and our ancestral past is not our fault. But the now is our responsibility, as citizens, as grownups, and as human beings. I’ll fight these low-brow throwbacks with you from the barricades, both virtual and real if it’s called for.
