Children today face many distractions in a world where they have access to varied entertainment and have to juggle between their life, school and how they fit into their parents' schedules.

When parents do not consciously try to remind their kids through devotions, and prayers about the importance of their spiritual lives, they tend not to have one until Sunday. This is why Sundays are key for a children's ministry leader or teacher.

Sundays might be the only time a child or teen in your class gets to interact with God and an opportunity for a teacher to guide the child or teen through their spiritual journey.

Children's ministry leaders or teachers must have a basis for the guidance they give to a child or teen, and this can only be achieved through evaluation. It is important to assess the spiritual lives of the children you teach regularly.

This can inform you about the lessons to teach and how to structure your lessons to meet the spiritual needs of the children.

Below is a sample spiritual evaluation sheet every children's ministry teacher must share with their children or teen to fill out. We have also shared an example of the evaluation form that has been filled out by a teen.

Here is a set of important questions to ask your children or teen in the children’s ministry.

Here is a sample of the evaluation form that has been filled out by a child. If you are a children’s ministry teacher, what actions would you take to help this child? [Think about it]

Remember that in all this, the children’s ministry leader or teacher must always keep the child or teen’s response a secret and consider ways to help them. In situations where the parents of the children must know, the teacher must be very strategic about it. Remember, the aim is not to put the child in a bad light but to help them grow in Christ.
