Why ThetaTeeth has chosen teeth altogether and what does it mean for the future plans?

One of the greatest challenges when it comes to any project, including one in crypto and NFT space, is to answer the questions and concerns of the followers. So far, we have been monitoring the comment sections on our social media platforms (btw, join our Twitter & Discord) and would like to stress an important point in this quick post.

ThetaTeeth is a piloting project starring teeth as the main artwork, with the entire 3232 collection built around it, mostly in pixel-art form. There are numerous reasons why teeth were chosen in the first place.

  1. As we mentioned before, teeth were very symbolic in ancient times, used both to show that one is an apt hunter, as well as a means of payment before money was even invented. Therefore, we have adopted this idea as this collection would be later used for exclusive access to discounts, cashback and other various perks in the next projects.
  2. Of course, we could have chosen another animal-humanoid form to make some more NFT cats, dogs, snakes or fish, which would have been less symbolic of tokens of membership, but arguably more main-stream. However, given that the NFT space is already heavily flooded with very similar projects, we decided to distinguish ourselves and give some more meaning.
  3. An additional insight for the artsy NFT enthusiasts — which other body part can be abstracted for an NFT collection? An eye? A finger? An ear, perhaps? From this standpoint, a tooth was the most appropriate candidate, with its many real-world customizations and its shape with roots resembling a human figure.
  4. We have also chosen a pixel-art form, as it, just like many other retro vibes have been gaining more interest lately. In fact many retro themes can be witnessed around us, including 80s and 90s movies remakes, contemporary musicians delving into synth-wave etc. (CryptoPunk’s partial success is also attributed to this). Moreover, it is a matter of symbolism more than an ultra-high-res VR-ready hyper realistic oil painting with smell appropriation.
  5. Last, but definitely not least important insight is the one that most often gets left as unimportant — the value. As most of us have gathered here not as art critics or collectors, but as blockchain and specifically Theta Network supporters, we must remember that the value of an NFT is not only derived from the visual satisfaction and the corresponding demand. Instead, the main drivers of an NFT’s value are: a) the blockchain itself b) the underlying project’s well-being c) intrinsic value, or what financiers would call ‘a sum of discounted monetary flows’. While we cannot advocate for the Theta Network beyond our own belief and understanding of the importance of it (the big picture), we can certainly address the other two points. Yet, they are covered in our Whitepaper and would be covered in later publications.
5 teeth out of 3232.

So, where does it leave us? We are launching this NFT collection as a piloting project, which would later be the founding cornerstone of the entire platform that we have planned. In fact, as we mentioned, but still keep a secret, another two projects are already in the works. And as one might have figured out by now, we are not just a group of artists trying to make a ‘quick buck by hustling canvases’.

In fact, we are looking to help build the Theta community altogether, shine a light and bring some undervalued and very talented artists into NFT space, work with charities (in fact already have one), have our own Sandbox space (already in the works) and are currently discussing a theme-based comics series and a video game! But of course, all of this would be possible and would directly benefit the holders by spreading the word.

Teeth have great meme potenial. You can share your memes on our Discord server.
