What are other bloggers thoughts on The Opioid Crisis?
It’s Thyroid Thursday again, where I share some more inspiring blogs, news articles etc that I have come across!
Recently in the news, I have come across a number of articles relating to the opioid crisis sweeping America.
This was even featured on a Louis Theroux documentary Dark States on the BBC.
Due to the over-prescribing of opioid drugs for pain relief to patients, these drugs are now being withheld. Unfortunately, this means that many patients are turning to other forms of opioid-based drugs such as heroin in order to get relief from their pain.
This is terrible that vital pain relief is being withheld from patients who need and rely on this.
As someone who takes codeine to get relief from Fibromyalgia and chronic pain, I have no idea what I would do if my prescription was stopped suddenly.
Which is why my Thyroid Thursday post is featuring solely articles and blogs surrounding The Opiate Crisis.
Charlotte from charlottedebs.com discusses her thoughts on the subject.
From what I can see, people with chronic pain did not cause the opioid crisis.
Pain relief should not be withheld from people who need it!
