Travelling business/premium class in any mode of transport in itself is relaxing and when experienced in Airbus A380–800 with added Emirates hospitality — it’s altogether a different experience. Last month, we travelled on Emirates Business Class from Copenhagen to Bangalore with a transit in Dubai. It was an Airbus A380–800 from Copenhagen to Dubai (flight duration: 6 hours 25 minutes) and a Boeing 777 from Dubai to Bangalore (flight duration: 3 hours 40 minutes).

This was my third time travelling in Business class, second time with Emirates and first in a A380!

One of the services provided by Emirates to it’s business class passengers is the complimentary chauffeur drive-in service; this service can be booked online (via manage booking section) upto 48 hours before flight departure. We had our tickets booked almost at the last moment, mere 48 hours before the departure. And didn’t had sufficient time left for booking the chauffeur drive-in service online. However, it needed only a direct request with the airlines for booking the same and they were prompt in providing the pick-up service. From Bangalore Airport to our Guest house, we were able to book the service online.

We were picked up by the airlines cab (with Emirates logo on both it’s side) on time — giving a privileged feel!

After smooth baggage drop off, security & immigration checks and soon after the first boarding announcement, we boarded the aircraft. Both of us, were really excited to see and try out the A380’s business class — and we knew before hand about the Bar Lounge 😉

To be precise, it was a two class A380 — economy & business. The business class was on upper deck on the back side. This seating arrangement from SeatGuru will give detailed view. A flat bed seat with small personal mini-bar, 17” high screen resolution screen with new ICE entertainment system, a small tablet sized screen for playing games, eye mask, pair of walk-in socks & pretty good noise cancelling headphones. We quickly settled in our seats and snapped few clicks before we were greeted with champagne and other soft drinks. Soon after we were introduced to the seat features and the on-board services. Later on (before take off), we were presented with a wine menu to make our selection. For non-alocoholic drinkers, there were mocktails to choose from.

Couple of Red Wines tried

After the take off, the selected drinks were served with starters. The starters were Mixed Nuts. Soon the dinner was served — I opted for Salmon dish in the starter and Roatsed Chicken in the main course and Mocha Tart as Dessert to finish off. Deepa had pre-ordered Vegetarian Jain Meal (to try out something different).

After the filling dinner and couple of glasses of wine, it was time to check out the most-talked lounge services in A380’s. As soon as you enter the area, it gives a feel one has entered a small bar — they serve the drinks (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic) on the bar table along with variety of snacks: the regular starters, sandwiches, traditional Arabic sweets to name few. Also, there was a with a big HD TV with airshow and recent news headlines. The bar section is a nice hangout pace where one can spend some time by socializing or enjoying themselves by reading a book or listening music OR best of all, one can try to be a bar attender for some time (yes, I did :)). The bar is a great alternative to one’s seat. After being in the bar for almost 45 minutes, we decided to use our business class seats-convertible-to-bed to rest with headphones plugged in with few classical notes before hitting the ground again in Dubai! Relax…… And very soon we landed in Dubai!

At Dubai Airport, we checked into Terminal 3 Gate C Emirates Business Class Lounge at Dubai Airport — a luxurious lounge infact — offering buffet food, unlimited drinks, juices, water, relaxation centre, business centre and much more! We had quick bites before our next flight. And were a bit surprised to see the complete Indian cuisine as part of their set up.

The forward journey from Dubai to Bangalore was smooth as well with 777’s business class and most of the time was spent sleeping on our seats! Travelling Boeing’s business class just after A380’s one was a little boredom! 😛

A380’s business class experience has been the best travel experience for us till now and even though you have travelled numerous times in business class before, give A380’s a shot — it’s totally worth it!
