Today I read a quote that made me think…

Thank you. Charles Bukowski.

Today during my usual early morning social media check when I was still deciding which K-cup to fill my Keurig with and how the hell my pillow got across the room...

…I stumbled upon a quote.

“We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.” — Charles Bukowski

This quote hit me. Like a ton of bricks. For a moment, this became the most profound statement I have ever read. Just for a moment. But in that moment I understood this completely. It’s hard to explain to someone without knowing a little of my back story.

I’m not your typical college student. I’ve spent my first three years of college rising to the top of the social sphere at Illinois State University. I’ve made the most of my college experience more than just becoming a prototypical Van Wilder. I’ve accomplished many things far and wide between academics, work, and leadership involvement. However, come April, it will soon all end.

For me this was the most horrifying realization. But like your typical Type A personality…I’ve been looking for the next step.

I’m happy to say yesterday(after months of worrying) I accepted my dream (undergraduate/entry level) position in Chico California. — Even more than that…February has been MY month. I’ll spare the details of my recent successes but right now everything has fallen into place.

SO when I read this quote I realized that I have been laughing at the odds my entire life.

THAT is why I am successful.

THAT is why I have become something.

THAT is why I must share this story.

One day…Death shall tremble when he comes to take me and hopefully he will tremble when he comes to take you
