2019 James Beard Foundation Awards Announced

The James Beard Foundation announced the five winners of their America’s Classics awards. This award is given to smaller, usually family-owned restaurants that aren’t easily eligible for the bigger awards ceremony, but still deserve the recognition. This marks the beginning of the awards for 2019 and this year each restaurant got its own day of recognition by announcing a winner each day this week. The restaurants that were honored are: Pho 79 in California, Jim’s Steak & Spaghetti House in West Virginia, A&A Bake & Double and Roti Shop in New York, Sehnert’s Bakery & Bieroc Cafe in Nebraska, and Annie’s Paramount Steakhouse in Washington, D.C.
