Mimaland

Have you been to Malaysia’s first theme park? Mimaland first opened its doors in 1971 and that was the start of the great fun and excitement for many families. However, a tragic incident happened when a tourist lost their life and this followed several unfortunate events which led to the theme park closing down.

Today, Mimaland has attracted different kinds of visitors — the thrill-seekers of the dark and mysterious. With its dilapidated state, many urban explorers venture to sneak a peek at this ghostly abandoned park. Even before its abandonment, scary stories were already circulating around.

It was rumored that the land sits on a mystical area inhabited by ‘orang bunian’ — the supernatural beings in Malay folklore. Some people even saw a woman walking alone in the area or feeling like they were being watched as they venture into the abandoned park.

Would you dare to visit this abandoned park for some cheap thrill?

Karak Highway

If you enjoy car rides in Malaysia, then you’ve probably heard of Karak Highway. This infamous highway is so popular that even local horror movies were inspired by it. It was built in the 70s to help ease land traveling, however, many accidents had happened here over the years and many had even lost their lives.

Due to its long dark history, it became a hotspot for many paranormal stories that many, even locals, were afraid to drive at — especially at night. One of the most popular urban legends is the story of the yellow Volkswagen beetle.

If you find yourself driving here alone at night, you’ll find yourself cruising along with a mysterious yellow Volkswagen Beetle that appears out of nowhere. If you try to overtake it, you’ll see it appear in front of you again and again. And if you try to see inside the car, you’ll find no one is driving it!

And some even tell a story about a little boy who roams the highway at night, flagging down passing cars and asking “Have you seen my mother?”. It was rumored that the boy and his mother were involved in an accident on this highway and his spirit wasn’t put to rest.

Would you like to take a joy ride to Karak Highway?\

Highland Towers

If you’ve lived in Malaysia, you’ve probably heard of the devastating Highland Towers tragedy that happened in December 1993. Due to landslides and heavy downpours, the building collapsed and many lives were lost. This has led to the infamous abandoned place is a hotspot for paranormal activities. Allegedly, people start hearing wailings or screams, while some even see apparitions of ‘Pontianak’.

One of the most popular urban legends — dated back to 1994, when a taxi driver picked up a young woman in the middle of the night. And as they were driving, the driver realized that they were at the Highland Towers.

Feeling creeped out, he asked the young woman why she needed to be here this late at night. She said, “I left my belongings here.” Feeling confused, the driver continued to ask what was so important that she
couldn’t do it the next day. The woman replied, “My body… I died here last year…” When the taxi driver turned around the backseat was empty!

One the creepiest stories I’ve heard. Have you seen the abandoned Highland Towers? Keep your eyes peeled you might see the young lady appearing before your eyes…

Kellie’s Castle

An unfinished, ruined mansion that was built by a Scottish planter named William Kellie-Smith. It was said that this mansion was built as a symbol of love for his beloved wife. However, due to unfortunate circumstances the mansion was never finished and was sold off. Its crumbling walls had gone through a lot throughout the years as some of its Tamil workers died of Spanish flu while building Kellie’s Castle. And some rumors even say that the Japanese used the premises to torture and execute prisoners.

Today, Kellie’s Castle is one of the most popular tourist attractions with some, believing it to be haunted. A couple who were visiting took a photograph and saw a ghostly figure in one of the windows. While some say, William’s spirit restlessly roams the second-floor corridor or simply, if you stand still in a quiet room — you’ll get a sense of goosebumps and uneasiness. As if someone’s watching you. It might be William’s daughter in a white blouse with curly hair that appears in the dark.

It’s a very fascinating place to visit!
