Youtube recently made some major design changes on its platform, and here is everything you need to know about the redesign and all the major design changes that happed on Youtube since its launch in 2005.

When YouTube first launched in 2005, its interface was incredibly simple. There were two main columns: one for the video you were watching and one for a list of related videos.

This design worked well for a while, but as YouTube grew, it became clear that the interface needed to be updated. In 2012, YouTube introduced a new interface that included a larger video player, a new comments section, and a redesigned channel layout the new design also featured a white background, larger thumbnails, and a new navigation bar. This redesign was well-received by users, and it made YouTube more visually appealing.

However, some users felt that the new design was too cluttered and busy. In response to these criticisms, YouTube made a few changes to the site’s design in 2013. The most notable change was the addition of a “dark mode” option, which allowed users to switch to a darker colour scheme.

In 2017, YouTube introduced a new “material design” interface that was inspired by Google’s Material Design language. This redesign brought a number of changes, including a new logo, a new color scheme, and a new layout for the homepage.

In 2022, YouTube introduced new interface that includes a new dark theme, a redesigned home page, buttons with rounded corners (which I feel you tube should have done before), pinch to zoom and the most prominent of all Black subscribe button. The new design is more minimalistic and streamlined, with a focus on the content itself. This design is more in line with the Material Design guidelines.

Overall, the new design makes Youtube more enjoyable to use, and makes it easier to find and watch the videos you want to see and high contrast CTA’s will definitely help the content creators to gain some more subscribers.
