A Point System for Memories

Why do we remember the things we do?

Everything that is done by us is stored in our minds. This data holds value, the value of emotions.

Memories we hold have a point system we don’t realize exists.

Each point assigned designates the value of the emotions involved in that action. Emotions create memories because why would we want to remember things that our emotions are not put into.

Simply ask someone this following question. Describe your marriage and what they ate two nights ago. I am 100% sure they remember their marriage a lot better than what they ate two nights ago even if their marriage was 20 years (well unless they love food more than they love their spouse).

Why is this? Marriage is one of the most emotion-filled memories anyone can have. Marriages have love and happiness, two of the most powerful emotions, in the atmosphere.

A spectrum can be created to represent the point system for memories. Anything pushing out on the wings have value while the center is neutral. The spectrum has both love and happiness on one side while hate and sadness are on the other. Both hold equal value in terms of the point system but are different in how the memory affects us.

Now, I want you to think of memories you vividly remember. Do these have a lot of happiness, love, sadness and/or hate? Well, if they do, you have just proven my simple theory.
