Hi, I am Ryan!.

Just like you, I love yarn knitting and, I have been doing this for a while now. And I am putting up this blog to share the eight key points that you should consider before knitting in 2020.

So, let’s get started!.

A good quality yarn is necessary for a happy knitting experience, where you can use your skills to create an amazing yarn product.

Well, before starting any further, there are eight key points that you should consider before you start knitting your first yarn.

Best Yarn tips

Here are the eight key points to consider about yarn before you start knitting in 2020:

#1 Make sure to read all the labels:

Every Yarn roll comes with their labels that show the weight, composition, dye color. Read it every time because it says a lot about the yarn roll.

#2: Check the Weight of the yarn:

It refers to the diameter of the strand. It may be a little intuitive but this is the right to know the strand size without opening the roll. It means that the heavier the yarn, the bigger the yarn strand.

#3 Different types of Yarn Colors:

The most commonly-used yarn color is the one with a single uniform hue. But, there are different color types available such as:

  1. Tweed: Yarn with the flecks of different color fibers.
  2. Ombre: Yarn with a light and dark shade of a single hue.
  3. Multicolored: The Yarn which consists of two or more distinct hues.
  4. Self-striping: These are dyed yarn with the lengths of color that automatically create stripes while knitting or crochet.
  5. Marled: This is made from the strands of different -colored yarn threads that are twisted together.
  6. Crochet: This comes from the middle french word croc or crochet that resembles a hook. However, it is believed that the earliest form of crochets had bent-fingers instead of hock.

#4. Know this before trying new Yarn:

Sometimes trying new yarn can be the worst experience ever. But, Don’t let it get to you. Always start by knitting a small patch and see how the yarn is behaving, This will help in saving a lot of time.

#5. Make a small patch for Pattern designs:

Try out the pattern/design on a small patch that you want to do on the yarn roll. One easy way is to split the pattern/design into rows and columns. Always test-knit your design before starting the whole project.

# 6. Use the right Yarn weight:

The designs/ patterns work with a specific weight category. In case if you do not use the right weight for the pattern then it may lead to unpleasant and unexpected results. However, if you want to be creative and want to try something new, then go ahead!.

#7: Pay attention to Dye lot numbers:

Ignoring the dye lot numbers can be a troublemaker, as dyeing can lead to different results, even when you are using the same dye on different lots. Understand that this is how things are. Avoid tune coloring, get skeins from the same dye lot.

#8: Read the laundering instructions:

Last but not the least, Read all the laundering instructions. They are there for a reason, and all your creations will last longer if you follow the instructions.
