In The Shadows

Eight years of knowing… I stood in the shadows as you were growing… and I watched.

Time after time women would come and women would go…. I stood in the shadows and watched.

Success was claiming you, but at an awful price. You were at the Top of the mountain with the biggest names and they all wanted your blood… and I’m watching and praying in the shadows for our day to finally come.

I loved you. I protected you. Although you kept passing me by…

Telling me you no longer want me in your life… It took all of my energy to stifle that cry.

It hurt… I felt shamed…cuz in your eyes was this distorted version of life… this distorted version of me. Because of it… I wasn’t free to show you what The Lord had provided for you through me.

I was your answered prayer… but you simply didn’t want me.

And you unpolitely kept me in the prison of your shadows… waiting.
