Wear your glasses, boy

trust me, life will be much clearer.

Listen, wipe the dust off your lenses, and tighten the screws of your frame. theyellowglass is long gone, but you are still in one piece, and be grateful for that. Remind yourself of the situation that sets you and the world apart; how much longer, than it was before, until you will start to realize that everything will inevitably come to an end? Life will only get shorter as you grow older, and all the colourful adjectives are only blinding your heart from fulfilling the right objective.

Listen, your family will become smaller, as will your days spent other than for them too. Treasure your family, treasure your love— the only love that binds you and your family. Strengthen your faith, and never back down. The bigger the current flows, the bigger the resistance should be. Simple physics, boy, simple. You will have to leave them someday, but let the days you have with them be the best days of your life. Your friends won’t define you how you will grow, they are only there to chip in a word or two, and trust me, some words will cut deep into your heart, some though, well some are cheap. Some will remain indelible in your mind, while some will become distant memories that will haunt you. You must haunt them back by moving forward. Be optimistic. Have some curry.

Your parents— they are your sifu; listen to them and listen well. Whatever that comes out from their mouth lies a thousand wisdom which you will appreciate only when you grow older, and trust me, patience is and forever will be your secret ingredient; too much of a tablespoon won’t hurt your ego much, so be ready and prepare to add in as many of this ‘therapeutic’ ingredient into your recipe of life. If you see either you or your parents playing with their handphones, stop, and I mean it. Stop doing whatever it is that you are doing and engage in a conversation with them. Talk about life. Talk about love— Talk about everything. Old people love nostalgia, so they will go all out in telling their tales of the old. Give a listen, and have a go at their golden moments. Embrace the laughters, embrace the moment. Always tell yourself it could be your last, or it could be the first of the many. Life comes to you in a beautiful manner, respect the beauty and honour it in the most grandiose way. You’ll be surprise how enlightening this can be. Try it. It’s free.

Always remember to wear your glasses boy, and open your eyes big big, or in other words, open your eyes and observe the beauty that transcends this goodly Earth. We only live once, they say, but those who say that have probably not tried eating a billion thosai. Crap no. I’m just kidding. But really, if you say you only live once, why sleep off today and live for tomorrow instead? How many goodnights are you going to tell yourself before realizing it’s too late to do what you want to do, or in simpler terms, to do what YOU are SUPPOSED to DO?

Wear your glasses, boy, and wear it well. You are not anybody but theyellowglass, and that name shall remain an enigma to the minds of those who have yet to know the real you, and until eternity. Live for a purpose, and live fruitfully. Carpe diem they say, but in malay, it’s ‘Siapa diam’, meaning who’s quiet? That’s irrelevant and I am, as always, lame.

Goodnight. (My goodnight usually starts to kick in a few hours after this, but anyway, whatever.)
