One of the scariest aspects of ageing skin is its tendency to lose elasticity with the age. Although, sagging skin looks cute, only if we compare ourselves with Shar Pei; but for many of us, nothing is more discouraging than going around with those hanging cheeks, clinking jaws and droopy facial muscles. Accordingly, many myths and facts about the sagging skin have been popped up in the recent years, as noted herewith.
Running will make you sag
Sagging skin is mainly attributed to two primary age related reasons, first would be loss of collagen and the second would be loss of facial fat. When you jog, your whole body is in the motion, it would be highly contradictory that you are exercising around enough to damage collagen. On the contrary, exercising outdoors for longer hours can expose you to UV rays for longer period of time, which breaks the collagen down, thus forcing your skin to sag.
Sleeping on your stomach may cause your skin to sag
As a matter of fact, sleeping on your stomach won’t force your skin to sag; on the contrary, if you sleep on your stomach, it would possibly lead to sleep wrinkles, which can be observed every day when you get out of your bed. Since with age, your skin loses its elasticity, it becomes less supple and hence settles down with those fine lines and wrinkles. This can be avoided by sleeping on your back; however, if you are more inclined towards sleeping on your stomach, then probably you can choose a better option of sleep wrinkle pillow, which is supported with designs to minimize contact between your face and pillow.
Facial exercises are better way to reduce skin sagging
Although it is true to some extent, it has a twist. For instance, facial exercises are believed to increase the size of the facial muscles, while theoretically melting away the internal fatty deposits as well. Thus, while few work outs are believed to tighten your jaw line, they would probably as well worsen your crow’s feet.

The treatments are available to help you fight sagging skin
More commonly some alternative treatments are available such as topical application of products like retinols or botox treatment etc, which claim to reduce sag around your skin. But these treatments have their own side effects and limitations in terms of treatment outcome, contrary to which some of the upcoming treatment modalities have proven to be very useful, such as stem cells therapy.
Stem cells are the naïve cells of your own body and are identified to be very potent in differentiating into desired cell types, such as lost skin cells, collagen producing cells, etc. In case of sagging skin, number of cases have reported to be benefitted in terms of tighter, flawless skin with a perfect glow. Since, these cells are from your own body, they pose no harm of infection or rejection and can be exploited with complete safety.
