Ability to pitch a thought to a stranger is an essential skill across several industries. Especially for entrepreneurs and startups, it can be a stepping stone to landing investors and partners. Let’s know about the key ingredients of crafting a conceivable, powerful and impressive pitch.

Know Your Audience

It’s very important to understand your target audience before crafting a pitch. What you are attempting to accomplish with the pitch should be predetermined, whether it is to create an excitement toward the product or to encourage investors to fund your project. You need to frame the pitch focused on the aspects that are most relevant to the listeners. Once you understand the audience interests it becomes easier to tailor your pitch not only in terms of content but also in terms of length & structure.

Clearly describe how your offerings solve a problem.

An essential objective of a pitch is to persuade people in a very short time about the relevancy of your product or service. The best way to highlight this “attention grabber” is to incorporate it in the beginning of your pitch, so people can make more sense out of the whole talk. Once you mention the “Why” behind your offering, you can then move towards “HOW” your offerings can help solve these problems. It gives the audience a better clarity and helps them understand your product or service in a better way.

Strong Back-Up data

Establishing a vibe of credibility towards your idea is very important. Instead of using general statements it’s more effective to use facts & figures. It is very beneficial to utilize information from credible sources to ensure it’s legit if someone tries to learn more about it through the internet.

Be Authentic

Although you plan the whole script and tailor your pitch with the best possible ingredients, you have to speak your “thoughts” while addressing the audience. Being authentic plays a very important role when it comes to winning the confidence of people. It is advisable to present in a way that your personality sync with your speech. People understand that presenting in front of the audience is not easy and by simply being genuine you can build a great amount of empathy amongst the listeners.

Leave the Audience Curious

The last impression is equally important as the first impression. While pitching a business you ignite the interest of the audience in the beginning and nurture it throughout the presentation. During the final conclusion of your speech, it is fruitful to leave the audience excited and energetic about the idea you just shared. It makes them curious and encourages them to approach you, which gives you the second chance to ensure your objectives are fulfilled.
