A search of acceptance in the world of Accepted

Believe it or not, we all have our own ways of doing things, this somehow surprised me when I finished watching the movie Accepted. Accepted is a movie made in 2006, directed by Steven Pink, starring Justin Long, Jonah Hill, Blake Lively and many more.

The movie introduces us with a session of deception as our main protagonist, Bartleby Gaines tries to avoid getting caught by his principal, after this his reality comes into play, what college would he enter? This becomes one of the main problems that our protagonist faces early on in the movie. After this he went on and realize that he needs to get into a college, his best friend Sherman Schrader got into a prestigious collage, his crush also got into a college, now pressured by his parents, Bartleby whips out a plan, and that plan is to make his own fake college, with the help of his best friend who at this point has become the voice of moral and Daryl “Hands” Holloway, Glen, and Rory Thayer as companions in arms with Bartleby founded the South Harmon Institute of Technology or S.H.I.T. to be short.

Now with a fake college S.H.I.T. or South Harmon Institute of Technology behind his back, Bartleby is confident to deceive his parents and manages to keep her witty sister off of his case, little does he know how big his little mischievous deed would later become. As the movie progresses, he finds himself together with Sherman, Daryl, Glen and Rory running an actual collage full of students with Ben Lewis as the dean, a former lecturer at a neighbouring college and Shermans uncle.

At some point Richard Van Horne, the dean at the neighbouring college decides to expand his college and make a huge entrance, but to do that he has to get through Bartleby and his friends whom now have improved a lot since his first S.H.I.T. opening. After Dean Richard finds out about this he confronts Bartleby at court and in a plot moving narrative, Bartleby wins.

About this movie that makes me think is the message that it brings, we have our own way of doing things and we shouldn’t force ourselves to meet everyones expectations. This in my opinion is a very good message, but this movie brings it in a little bit of a bad way, we still have to remember that being a little mischievous and deceiving is one thing but we should not get too carried away with it and we should know when it is too much.

All in all, I think the movie Accepted is a really good watch, would definitely recommend watching it as it is also very enjoyable and comedic and at the same time has a really good message to tell us, albeit with a way that we should think first before really going in too deep into things.
