Photowalk “I See Hope”

4 min readJun 18, 2014

Photowalk “I SEE HOPE” is calling for artists who can express through their lenses, create and capture images that redefine how we perceive life. Enthusiasts over professionals, hope over criticism. We take an extended walk through the lanes of the city we most love, giving and sharing hopes and dreams for a better tomorrow, while capturing them in pictures. We start our journey with a cup of coffee at Hauz Khas Village before we stroll around discovering the nooks and corners of the market place. We will then head to the vibrant Dilli Haat in search of the chronicles of a united India. Our walk will conclude by embracing a new perspective on urban Delhi in Meherchand market close by.

We see hope and we are ridiculously determined to spread the message.

10:30 — 11:00 — Coffee at Kunzum:

The day begins with the group of photographers and other enthusiasts assembling at Kunzum Travel Cafe in Hauz Khaas Village. Kunzum’s interior, complete with scenic photographs and accounts from all over the world is as delightful as it gets. Besides free wifi, the coffee is on the house and one can pay as little or as much as they wish to. There may not be free lunches in the world, but free coffees do call for a great conversations.

11:00 — 12:30pm — Photo walk at Hauz Khas Village:

At around 11 am, The Photowalk brigade shall hit the colourfully vivacious outdoors of the Hauz Khas Village. This vibrant market ,sprawling between lanes and by-lanes, twisting beautifully around the corners ,is a delight for sore eyes. The walls painted in vibrant colours have attracted photographers and onlookers from all over the world. In the spirit of the “I see Hope” campaign, life comes out in its truest form as one strolls through the market .It is a promising site where you can sit back and admire the art of suburban life that lies behind the colours and walls that speak of India.

The essence of Modern India can be extracted phenomenally from the marvelous juxtaposition of the picturesque , centuries old Hauz Khas fort of the Sultanate age with the plush cafes that emerged barely a year ago . Art redefines itself in the Hauz Khas village and fits the mold of 21st century India convincingly .

12:30 — 13:30 — Lunch break:

After the good, rejuvenating walk, the team breaks for lunch before continuing capturing life as we know it.

13:30 — 14:30 — Dilli Haat photo walk:

Following lunch is a visit to our next destination, that has probably been and should be visited by everyone that lands in the city of hearts, Delhi. Fondly called, ‘A little India’, Dilli Haat encompasses India and its age old heritage in a space so closed and yet spread across the entire Indian subcontinent. From the intricately detailed Kashmiri jhumkas and Pashmina shawls to the best Kanjeevaram sarees the southern part of the country offers, Dilli Haat never disappoints a keen traveller. Dilli Haat provides the ambiance of a traditional, rural Haat on village market. Colours of the nation blend in to create scenery so prepossessing, it is difficult to pass by without a look of admiration.

14:30 -15:00 — Coffee break:

Coffee break after we move to the next destination is suggested and hence the team shall hunt for a place in Meherchand market that fits our aspirations best.

15:00 — 16:00 — Meherchand market photo walk:

A rare and under-rated gem awaits discovery through new eyes and perspectives. The “I See Hope” team shall dig in and decipher hopes in the lives that decorate the relatively lesser known Mehar Chand Market. Touted as India’s budding designer-hub, or as the next Khan Market, this underrated piazza delights its visitors with a wide variety of wares. The warm welcomes and the interesting set ups and installations make Mehar Chand a promising visit.

With that, the Photowalk, after picking up snippets from places and lives, otherwise less hyped, shall culminate into a satisfactory conclusion. “I See Hope” is not only about finding beauty in our surroundings but also to celebrate the hope within our hearts that sustains us. I see hope wishes to close by positively affecting each life it touches.
