The Sheena Bora Murder Case

“The putrid plot of Sheena Bora’s murder illuminates, but doesn’t explain, her tawdry, ruthless mother, Indrani Mukherjea.”

The censors might not have passed this script. Yet the last few days, Tv news has been far more sensational and this news has been all around the TV for the last one month. Her mother, Indrani Mukherjea, founder of CEO of INX Media, and wife of former Star CEO Peter Mukherjea, is the prime accused in the murder of her daughter three years ago. Her body was dumped in the forests of Raigad. Indrani’s son, Sheena’s brother, Mikhail who is also afraid that he might get killed too, is being interrogated by the police.

Sheena Bora and Mikhail Bora, were portrayed as Indrani’as Mukherjea’s siblings, during the entire course of 15 years of Peter’s and Indrani’s marriage. Sheena Bora was in a relationship with Rahul Mukherjea, Peter Mukherjea’s son, who was inturn, Indrani Mukherjea’s stepson. Rahul and Shenna were romantically involved as to Rahul, Sheena was Indrani’s sister and not Indrani’s daughter. So when Rahul proposed the idea of his and Sheena’s marriage, Indrani Mukherjea had severe problems with that as Peter Mukherjea’s property would eventually come down to Rahul, as Rahul was the rightful heir to Peter Mukherjea’s property. The empire that she had built all throught these years, struggling- Indrani Mukherjea couldn’t possibly stand to see that it would eventually all go down to her daughter, Sheena Bora, who was apparently framed as her sister, throughout the entire course of 15 years of her and Peter’s marriage.

Could Indrani have killed her own daughter?

The more you listen to each person involved in this murder case, the less believable they all seem. Sheena’s body was apparently claimed to be kept for 24 hours at TV tycoon, Peter Mukherjea’s house, after which the body was sent to Raigad Forest, to be burnt.

Sheena was claimed missing after that day, and when the senior police officers tried to file a case, he was asked not to, as Indrani exclaimed that she had sent off her “sister” to the U.S for higher studies. She even managed to send Rahul a last text from Sheena’s phone, saying that sheena is breaking all ties with Rahul as her “elder sister”, Indrani is sending her off to the U.S for higher studies.TV tycoon, Peter Mukherjea exclaims that he too had a problem with the rapid growing relationship between his son and Sheena and hence when Indrani told him that Sheena has been sent away to the U.S for higher studies, he too advised Rahul to stay away.

It is so dysfunctional that a young girl disappears for three years and nobody- mother, brother, step father, grandparents, boyfriend- even tries to find out where she is.

Mumbai psychiatrist was bribed by Indrani Mukherjee to forge a certificate declaring her son, Mikhail, mentally unstable. According to research and police she had planned to use this certificate if Mikhail had continued with his attempts where his sister is.

The case kicked off when a rifle was found at the driver, Shyam Rai’s place and was complained to the police by a neighbour. When the police started interrogated him, one of the greatest mystery murder case came into limelight- The Sheena Bora murder case.

What is known is that, Sheena Bora was killed in April 2012, allegedly by Indrani, with the help of her driver and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna.

Police are also probing Mikhail’s claim that just hours before Indrani and Sanjeev met Sheena on April 24, 2012 and took her for what would be the last drive of her life, Indrani had also allegedly drugged him. By the time they came back, the suspicious, groggy Mikhail had fled.

Meanwhile, the car in which Sheena Bora was allegedly killed was traced, while questions cropped up about a cover up by the police in not registering a case of murder or accidental death three years back when a partially-burnt body, believed to be hers, was found.

Why is it that such high profile murders always end up in families from the aristrocratic class and culture and not amongst the middle classes?

Have you ever given it a thought?

Even if you did, what can be the possible outcome for such an unusual event? In a country like India, where money and power supresses almost all the cases, why don’t they gain justice in the legal grounds quickly?
