Oof. In-law situations are tough. I feel like I’ve done it all wrong, but my advice is to try to get past the bridesmaid thing as soon as possible. Maybe just hang back, show your support for the marriage, and ask if there’s something you can contribute to the wedding.

For whatever reason, it’s very easy with in-laws to get offended by things people did or said and then start cataloguing them in your mind (I am guilty of this). It can be hard to let stuff go, but given that this person is going to be part of your life for a long time, having a short memory is a good idea. You stand a better chance of the relationship improving if you’re not hanging on to resentments. My two cents.
