You’re probably better off not thinking about the coupons. Right now you’re putting a lot of thought into how to spend $70 instead of how to not spend $70.

My approach is catering what I eat to sales. For ex fruit is a core part of my diet, and I choose the fruit of the week based on the best prices. Same with meat and other produce. Seems to work out. For staple items like pasta or cans of tomatoes, I’ll stock up when I see a good sale. I’m also big on making your own cleaning products (baking soda and vinegar for the win!) and using cloth instead of paper products. Also helps to shop at “ethnic” groceries if you can. Our grocery budget for two is the same or less than yours, so it can be done.
