For a company that prides itself on its data collection and analysis, it’s clear this was not the move users are looking for. I find it highly unlikely you came to this conclusion using real testing with real users.
I understand why you would do this however, as I am the type of user that has circumvented the need for paying for A-list due to the “hack” of visiting pages even when you like them (from the homepage or swipe app) so that they see and can click to your profile without both of you needing A-list in order to find people who are interested in you, then if you both like each other, it shows.
Ultimately it will probably show as the right business move to increase paid users, but as other apps have been improving the user experience, this seeks to degrade it.
