#ThisMummaLife Interview with Fonseca Fitness

During August I took part in Fonseca Fitness’ fantastic Mum and Baby boot camp sessions and had an absolute blast. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask the lovely Farah a few questions for my #ThisMummaLife series.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and Fonseca Fitness?

I have been running classes and started Fonseca Fitness when I was 19 years old. Since then it has grown across many parts of Basingstoke and have been fortunate enough to have classes being ran at different times in Popley, Chineham, Hatch Warren and also Whitchurch. We are a ladies only boot camp, not that this was the case originally, it was just the clientele I seemed to attract and then from there I decided to niche it.
We pride ourselves in being the #FonsecaFamily — everyone is welcome, including kiddies, to make our ladies lives as easy as possible.

What do you enjoy most about working with Mums (and their children!)?

I love my bubba’s! All the babies who come along, even though sometimes it can feel a little like a creche, I love being able to help mums have 45 minutes a day to themselves to just concentrate on themselves away from their little ones. I find it really rewarding and love the fact that the mum’s who come along to these are extremely grateful to have somewhere they can go, even if it’s just for 45 minutes where they can have some time to themselves.

What is your favourite pre/post workout meal and why?

Hmm, before I work out I need to eat something quite light so that it doesn’t feel heavy when I’m working out. Before training I normally eat 3 eggs, with either a little bit of bacon, but normally some salmon or crayfish with some avocado. After training I normally have some porridge oats with coconut milk and fruit to keep me feeling feel until lunch time.

Do you have any tips for Mums returning or starting to exercise since having children?

Don’t rush the process of getting back to exercise. Enjoying bonding with your baby, whether that takes 6 months or 1 year or even longer, every mum is completely different. When you are ready to return to exercise don’t feel pressured to be back to where you were before you fell pregnant (if you were exercising beforehand). You’re not ‘trying to get your body back’ but in fact you need to learn to embrace the body you have now. Your body is different to where it was so take your time to learn it’s new limits. Make sure to look after your core and pelvic floor before getting back into high intensity exercise.

Finally, tell us when and where we can find you?
