Kate. Perhaps one day your dream will come to pass. And Labour will have moved so far to the right that they can no longer be distinguished from old-fashioned moderate Conservatives. Then maybe, just maybe, the (credit yielded) ‘aspirational’ will finally come to their senses and vote Labour. But along the way, the things that Labour once stood for — equality, fairness, economic security, and egalitarianism — will have been abandoned completely. Abandoned, lets not forget, at an historical moment in time when those very things are needed the most. Thatcher once said that she never sought to occupy the centre ground, but instead to move it to her — and we are living with the consequences. I believe the members of this fine party are crying out for Labour to be just as ambitious.
