“The Perfect Letter” — A Short Story

You got me hooked till the end! Just wondered what happened. How did she attempt suicide? Slit wrist? Maybe not because he “grabbed her hand” and would have noticed the slit wrist(s). Drug overdose? Could be — because of the “weak eyes”. [What are weak eyes anyway?] Hanging? — Perhaps because of the “hoarse voice”. [Why hoarse voice?] Why forced smile and why did she “close her eyes”? Weakness? Sedated? I find the ending loaded with diverse queries and possibilities! Did she survive? Will we ever know?
