Potential Income as a Graphic Design graduate
This weeks group discussion was what our knowledge on where we will be gaining income from once we have completed study. Most of us realise that our income as creatives will come from multiple sources or not just a specific area.
The idea of having multiple incomes has never been a new thing to me. From an age of when I started creating, income has come from multiple areas/disciplines. The normal being an everyday/casual job but on the side I have always designed for friends, painted and taken photos of my everyday life or things I found interesting. Although it may not have brought me much income it is what I enjoying doing.

This is one of the main reasons I am undertaking a design course as it is what I enjoy doing and I will be getting paid for it, well hopefully. I am a great believer of perusing something you enjoy. This was reiterated a lot this week with a whole bunch of friends on facebook complaining about being back at uni. I cant understand this just study something you enjoy its that simple isn't it.
Personally my income will hopefully come from a studio/being an employee at first as this is more valuable than the money itself. You will gain knowledge an experience from those you are working with and around. It will also give me the stability of set work hours and such. As mentioned above I enjoy painting and photography, if all my time was spent designing this would intern effect my outside life which would have an impact on my design work. My design inspiration can often come from what I have photographed or seen, without this my designs may not reach their true potential.

Since experiencing European design and culture in 2015 my eyes have been solely set on moving to Berlin for a year or two. I understand the challenges involved with moving to another country especially with English not being the preferred language but the experience and knowledge I think I would gain would make it all worth while. To me European design is so far ahead of Australian design with Berlin being at the forefront of that. The Graffiti and Art culture also attracts me as you have to have a solid mix of work and pleasure in this industry. They go hand in hand if your not experiencing life and it pleasures your mind state will be lacking intern effecting your creative work.
