I love machines and I love communication…

I love machines and I love communication. So I am fascinated how machines communicate.

After a decade of learning and engineering how machines are connected to each other, I realised that they are great communicators.

What is their trick ? How did they learn ? Which school did they go to?

I think they are just great listeners.

Machines are great listeners because they are available 24/7 for each other. And if they are not, that means they are offline and then you can call the technical support. Imagine that with friends. If they don’t want to listen maybe they just need an update.

Machines are great listeners because they care. On the internet all nodes are interconnected to each other. They are constantly (every ~20ms) sending to their neighbors some little cute packets called : “Hello”.

How cute is that !

Machines are great listeners because they don’t alter the content of the message. With digital technologies the message transmitted is exactly the same that the message received. Basically when machines didn’t get it, machines are not ashamed to ask again or ask questions. No gossip, no rumors.

Machines are great listeners because they are open to new participant. When a new node comes online, after some sort of rituals, the new node is fully trusted to be an active part of the network.

Machines are great listeners because they don’t assume because they can hear a signal they know how to listen. They focus their full attention into the conversation, they don’t judge, they are super-curious.

Machines are great listeners because they are convinced that each message has a purpose even if they don’t understand the end application. Each message is a valuable contribution to the community.

Machines are great listeners because their language is designed for sharing.

Machines are great listeners because before they talk, they listen.

I love machines and I love communications.

What would the world be like if we were speaking powerfully and listening consciously ?

We are using words such as “Connected”, “reset”, “updated”, “switched on”, “synchronized” to define human interactions.

Machine behaviors inspire our culture, and transform our language.

I love machines and I love communications.

Our world can be so noisy that it became hard to listen, to pay attention to the subtle.

We fortunately found ways to shutdown, to switch of, take the time to reset our buffers, our memory and processor.

Machines don’t sleep. Machines don’t dream. Machine don’t love (yet). But machines can learn.

I love machines and I love communications.

I love those who created them. I love the people behind the machines.

Thank you for reading.
