Many game studios go quiet for a while before making a flashy resurgence. One studio gamers are extremely excited to hear from again is Rocksteady Studios, the creators of the fantastic Arkham series. It has been almost 3 years since the last entry, Batman: Arkham Knight (2015), released. It could be another year or two until their next game comes out, but a tease could be just around the corner. Since they are a studio of WB, it is safe to assume Rocksteady’s project will be based on a Warner Bros. property. Here are some interesting possibilities for the next highly anticipated Rocksteady game:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Aside from Superman or the Justice League, the heavily rumored franchise surrounding Rocksteady is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The skateboarding sewer dwellers have not had much critical success, with two poorly reviewed films, a bad beat’em up game, and a new show with a very different art style. Despite all that, this is a franchise audiences want to see succeed. The reveal of the turtles’ inclusion in Injustice 2 (2017) invigorated hopes for a good TMNT video game. With the Arkham combat, open world design, and focus on a story, Rocksteady would create the pinnacle experience of playing as massive pizza-eating amphibians.

The Conjuring

There are three YouTube drugs: tween drama, Taylor Swift videos, and horror games. Every major horror game has a plethora of reaction videos where grown ass men scream like children. The Conjuring films are some of the best horror films of the past decade, with inventive scares and great stories. A video game of this franchise could be a spin-off like Anabelle (2014) of focus on the Warrens investigating a paranormal happening. Many classic horror film franchises have dipped their toes in gaming, like Alien: Isolation (2014). Maybe it is time for a modern franchise to enter the fray.

Magic Mike

Obviously, this is a joke, but imagine if there was an E3 reveal of a Magic Mike game like this.

Blade Runner

I can hear the angry typing already. From television shows like Altered Carbon to video games like the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, any piece of art that wants a sci-fi noir feel looks to the Blade Runner films as the template. Why not just create a Blade Runner video game at this point? The excellent Blade Runner 2049 (2017) brought the franchise back in a big way, so an excellent video game can help maintain relevance. The game should be a tight linear experience with a focus on tone and story, such as The Last of Us (2013). Being set in a tall, dark, and rainy city, the Arkham aesthetic would translate well to Blade Runner. With more neon lights and holograms, Rocksteady Studios could create something truly special.

Harry Potter

Imagine this: a Bully (2006) style of game set in Hogwarts where you make your own character, get sorted into a house, go to magic classes, and solemnly swear you’re up to no good. Aside from the story, players could get into shenanigans with other players through Hogwarts Online. Sounds amazing, right? Even though there are no more films around the character of Harry Potter, the franchise is still extremely strong with theme parks, spin-off films, and people actually playing Quidditch. A high quality video game on a very popular franchise like this would sell millions of copies and make millions of muggles very happy.
