OpenAI throws a curve ball with the release of GPT2-chatbot
Is GPT2-chatbot the new GPT4.5?
OpenAI has got the AI world in a tizzy today with a surprise, some might say, stealth release of a new LLM they’re calling GPT2-chatbot.
If this was 30 days ago it would be an obvious April Fools joke and it might still just represent some kind of test strategy by OpenAI. LLM producers often do a stealth release of some of their models to try and gauge how they’re performing in real life.
Many people are speculating as to whether GPT2-chatbot might be an early version of ChatGPT4.5 but whatever the case I’m not going to pass up this chance to run it through my series of logic, reasoning and maths tests to see how it stacks up.
Accessing GPT2-chatbot
As far as I’m aware, at this early stage, GPT2 is only available to try out using the LMSYS chatbot arena (link below)
Once you get to the Arena, click on the Direct Chat TAB, then click on the Choose any model to chat drop-down and you should see the new GPT2-chatbot model there. Once selected you can ask questions of the model via a textbox that towards the bottom of the page.
