Talk To An Angel — For Real? PART IV

Free Will

Review: People were asked to imagine that if they could actually speak to an angel — a real angel, what would they ask? There were nine questions and two comments posted in response. Drawing on my experience as a trance medium from 1980 to 1995 for the Grand Spirit, Dr. Peebles (see, To Dance with Angels, by Don and Linda Pendleton), I reply to each.

[Part I, Part II, and Part III of series]

Natural Channeling

There are at least two aspects to this spiritual ‘workout’ (Questions to an Angel):

  1. “A rising tide lifts all boats.” As we ask, read, and consider these questions we are prompted — even if just a tad — to raise our sights, to lift our hopes and dreams from the routines of daily living. We reflect on our purpose and possibilities.
  2. Human consciousness. Each of us is a natural channel, a conduit for concept and contact. Is our imagination, in and of itself, the source of our creativity? Or is our imagination, in part, a window through which light passes, a pulsating spiritual light emanating from the other side of that window? As if through a prism, does this light of life and love cast an array of color upon our thinking process, seeding the groundwork of our mind with freshened possibilities, sparking our creativity?

As each person asked their question — as if to an angel — their own window of vulnerability opened a crack. While conceiving the question, a bit of that light passed through the prism of their consciousness and a ‘sense’ of the answer likely came to mind. Natural channeling.

When I reply to each question I am not thinking in some ‘muscular’ and rote manner so much as I am attempting to respond to the array of light and color upon the ‘groundwork’ of my mind. Images. I must, initially, only hope that the results hold relevant value or virtue. For me to demand clarity before the fact or require confirmation prior to externalizing (writing, speaking, designing, etc.) is to inhibit the potential of the clarity and merit that I seek. The stream of light is lost like the sun’s rays are muted by a drifting fog. So it is for us all.

Conception within the mind is, in part, an ongoing response to stimuli — internal and external. And, on occasion, that external stimuli is Spirit. With my mediumship, it was not that Spirit forced their presence through me. Rather, it was that I responded immediately and without prejudice. I mentally and physically reacted to their so very subtle presence with an absence of fear or concern. I surrendered and, in the doing, was willing to risk. Easier said than done, but that is often where the magic lays. Spirit was then able to have great effect upon and through me.

The teachings that they, Spirit, brought through are, at least for me, timeless and all-encompassing. When replying to each of the questions in this article series I am, of course, drawing upon those teachings but I am also drawing upon the memories of my internal experience while Spirit spoke through me … myself possessed by Spirit.

We Learn of Love

Possession is a word often used in the context of ‘evil’ or ‘negativity.’ I have learned it to be quite the opposite case, however. To be possessed is to become more; it is to unlock a door … to open a window and discover truth beyond pre-existing assumptions. To be possessed is, potentially, a state of inspiration. As with all things, this requires self-responsibility and personal management. The reason we are here, as spirits incarnate, is, in effect and in part, to learn to become possessed by life — by the familiar but also by the foreign and unfamiliar. And to do so not merely in the abstract but experientially. When two become as one there is the prospect of birth —discovery, new ideas, fresh insights, and love effected.

Furthermore, Spirit tells us that we incarnate to “… the beautiful but difficult school called Earth” as “students of the divine” so as to “… be surrounded by ourselves.” In other words, to be amongst our peers who have similar needs of growth. It is this interactive dynamic which guarantees that, in time, each of us will learn our lessons of the heart, our understanding of the soul. To a degree we are experiencing aspects of ourselves whether from the past, in the present, or of potential futures. When temporarily possessed by another’s being — their hopes, fears, and dreams — we do not lose our Self, we grow into our greater Self. And we learn of love.

For Your Reverie?

Wonder and pretend that you are a spirit who has recently departed Earth and you want to contact your family or friends still on Earth? Or, pretend that you are a spirit-guide who’s work is to aid and comfort human beings on Earth? In either case, what vibes might you experience as you reach out to touch them? Which persons, back there on Earth, might you have more success in contacting … touching … inspiring … comforting … moving? Which persons will you probably have less effect upon? Why? Bear in mind, you, as spirit, are of a very fine frequency compared to the physical frequency of your Earthly loved ones; you are ethereal, they are physical. It is difficult for their five senses to pick up your vibe. What’s it like to be Spirit trying to contact the human being … to effect their vibe?

You might enjoy a series of meditations on this question and include some journal writing in the doing. In PART V of this article series, I will offer my own thoughts on this reverie.

Okay, on with the questions.

Question #4:
“Was my imaginary friend — a little girl — a guardian angel? Her name was Isabella?”

My Reply.
As to Isabella, Dr. Peebles would answer this question specifically. He would do so with detailed insight as to whether she was a guardian angel — the why or why not of it. In either case, he would continue as to the how, where and when.

Was she a guardian angel to you? I simply don’t know; I can only surmise the possibilities based on my work as a medium.

That being said, my response is to the affirmative, though not as an angel per se. More likely — I’m thinking — she was a family member in a previous lifetime and was here in your current lifetime to comfort you, to reassure you, to divert you. During your youth, she may have felt like a sister to you but I wonder if she may have been your daughter in a previous lifetime who died tragically (in a fire?) and you blamed yourself terribly. She came to you as part of an agreement on the other side from within your soul family, soul-group, to help you. Her wish and her purpose, perhaps, was to help you lighten up and not take life too seriously … to smile again … to know that you are dearly loved. I suspect she was — by intention — a gift to you in this lifetime somehow related to that tragic previous life.

The above scenario is only a guess … perhaps an intuitive guess. I don’t know. More importantly, see it simply as an example of how it works ‘over there’ on the Spirit Side.

Question #5:
“Why?”

My Reply.
I’m not sure if the poster is asking “Why?” of me or of the angels.

If the question is to me, as in, Why are you, Thomas, asking the question in the first place? then please see PART I for my reply and review “… two aspects to this spiritual ‘workout’ ” at the top of this page.

If the question is directed to the angels, as in, Why do we experience war, conflict, and suffering? then my reply is two words:

FREE WILL

Spirit teaches that Earth is a school and all of us — without exception — are, “students, students of the Divine.” They tell us that we are here to identify, diminish, and dissolve our illusions of separation. Ultimately, we are to learn of the “Divine seed” within.

If we do not have free will, we do not learn about our relationship to all things, to all life, and the limitless potentials within (Divine seed). We must make our choices — micro and macro — and experience the results. “Peace on Earth and goodwill to all men …” is to be earned and learned. Individually, we are all learning at different speeds and within diverse theaters. We are not in a race, it is not a competition. We have time … lots of it. We reincarnate not only to continue the journey but to dramatically change the venue and context best suited to that journey at any particular moment within our soul’s growth. And we are not alone in the doing. Each of us is part of a larger family or soul group within the realm of spirit. Those groups, in turn, part of still larger groups and so on.

Much like a parent leaving their child in school to learn what they must learn upon their own actions, so it is with all of us as students upon this school, Earth.

Life is beautiful and it is wonderful but so very difficult too. Perhaps it is through our tragedies and suffering that we learn all the more of love and all the more of our strengths and potentials. Ultimately, our oneness through a celebration of the differences rather than fear of same.

Question #6:
“How do I know you’re with me?”

My Reply.
I’m not sure that we can know experientially (physical senses) that angels (Spirit) are with us, though I am convinced that technology will be able to ‘see’ and ‘hear’ spirit with consistency and quality in the not too distant future. We can develop an absolute faith because of third party references such as spiritual mediums or near death experiences. Alternately, we can mentally construct an unwavering certainty that there ‘must be’ a higher power because of the extraordinary and wondrous nature of life itself.

That being said, I offer this:

  • Do you actually put in the time and practice proportionate to your desire to know that angels are with you? I mean fair’s fair. Most people do not … and that is not a criticism. We are busy with our daily lives. Furthermore, the discipline of regular and dedicated meditation can be difficult to initiate as an ongoing practice for a variety of reasons not the least of which is that meditation — to the uninitiated — can seem to be merely a passive experience that offers little promise ‘in the real world.’
  • Create a meditation schedule. Research the practice of meditation.
  • Develop a frame of mind where — in one way and another — you are always ‘priming the pump.’ Think of a water pump out on the land whereby you keep pumping until finally the water comes out. Similarly, you will use physical actions such as writing and speaking (art? dance?) aloud as a means to respond to subtle effects upon your personal ‘atmosphere.’ Your ongoing and constant physical response to subtle stimuli is the priming of the pump seeking to draw the water, the essence of communication from Spirit, to your conscious awareness. [see webpage] In this process, you must respect and respond to your imagination. When you think you’re just making it up, respond! Talk aloud in reply, write down your thoughts. Keep records.
  • Develop a fascination with images in your mind. Pictures which float into your conscious attention. Where do they come from? When? Why? Here again, you record your ongoing experience of ‘watching the pictures in your mind.’ In time, you will learn to ‘strongly suspect’ that Spirit (angels) has just sent you a message … has just communicated to you.

Okay, we’ll begin with Question #7 in the next article segment, PART V, two weeks hence.
