Students interested in construction management and quantity surveying are invited to a career talk at the University of Wolverhampton and SCOPE, CityU, on August 12, 2023. Three well-known consulting businesses in the construction industry are participating in this presentation. Many curious students show up to the seminar. Ms Amelia Fok, director of Beria Consultants Limited, is excited to be the seminar’s keynote speaker and offers her full support for the event.

Mr Anthony Chan, an associate at Turner & Townsend, and Mr Daniel Ng, the recruitment manager, will gladly meet with our students.

ARCADIS is excited to give our students job possibilities, and Mr Stanley Yan, Associate Director, and Ms Christy Wong, Talent Acquisition Manager, are thrilled to meet them.

More than 35 students are involved in the activities. They are interested in learning about career advancement opportunities. Some students have used the opportunity to chat with the presenters after each segment to learn more about their future careers. The exchange of ideas is stimulating and helpful. Dr Thomas Tong, programme leader of the BSc (Hons) Construction Management and BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree programs, expressed his gratitude to the lecturers who presented at the graduation ceremony.

Three prominent consultancy firms serving the building and construction industry were invited. They all dispatched quantity surveyors to talk about the industry’s potential for growth. Surveyors are in short supply in Hong Kong. There is an expected shortage of construction management talents in the following years. When many projects will have moved on to the building phase from the planning phase. Data shows that building Hong Kong’s planned projects will take at least 20 years. There has not been a better chance for young people to launch successful professional careers in a long time.

This career guidance session has been universally praised by students. The speakers presented themselves and the qualifications for and potential routes to advancement within each job described. After hearing this, the students were able to solidify their belief in their own futures as professionals. Most students want us to continue giving lectures that attempt to foretell the future trend of the building and construction industry. We intend to keep up the good work and improve in this area.
