Usually There are No Free VPN Solutions, but Not Anymore: Debunking the Myth and Unveiling the Reality of Free VPN for Enhanced Security and Seamless Online Experiences

Normally, I use a VPN when travelling, due to various reasons:

Hiding your online activity

A VPN re-routes your internet traffic through a server in a location of your choice, thereby masking your true IP address, making it difficult for websites, advertisers, or entities trying to track your online journey.

Bypassing geographic restrictions for websites or streaming services

In some parts of the world, certain websites and services may be restricted, making it impossible for users to access them. A VPN can help you bypass these restrictions, allowing you to access the global internet as if you were physically located in another country.

Get cheaper prices when you book a flight or hotel

By using a VPN, you can access websites and services that may offer lower prices due to their regional differences or other geographic-based pricing strategies.

In most cases, VPN services are not for free because the servers you need in each country need to be maintained.

But lately, I found a new Virtual Private Network (VPN) provider that offers a free VPN solution for specific countries and services. Here’s a brief tutorial on how to use it.

At first, you should open the website from ProtonVPN:

From here, create a new account by clicking on the button in the top right corner of the page.

And when attempting to register, locate the small button positioned beneath the price models. Click on “Get Proton Free” to proceed with the free version of the service.

After clicking on the “Get Proton Free” button, the website will prompt you with a confirmation message asking if you are entirely sure about your decision.

Yes, we are sure we want to use the service for free :)

Next, you enter your email address and follow the registration process.

When you are logged in, download the Proton VPN application and install it locally on your MAC, Linux or Windows.

Installing ProtonVPN on your local os.

After starting the ProtonVPN application, click on the “Quick Connect” button to connect to a VPN. With its extensive servers located in the US, Netherlands, and Japan, you can currently select one of these options to quickly establish a secure and encrypted connection.

Congrats, now you are connected to a VPN for FREE!

Happy surfing,

Thoren
