Top 5 reasons Illinois residents are going Solar.
Solar is the most practical it has ever been!
Illinois improved their SREC(State Renewable Energy Credit) payout, and now residents can finally capitalize from the sun that hits their roof. Integrate the net metering program that already exists and a cheaper energy source is in your future.
However, savings isn’t the only reason people are turning to solar power, check out what another impact solar has when deciding to make to the switch.
- Save money — As important as renewable energy is to our environment. The bottom line is still in the forefront of people’s minds when choosing to go solar, and with the flexibility of the lease more homeowners can benefit from solar power and save money right away.
- To Help the Environment — It rarely happens, but people have paid more for their monthly solar bill than their utility bill just for lowering their carbon footprint. Even people with the lowest of interest in persevering the environment still like being part of the solution!
- A controlled bill/energy option — Utilities, for the most part, are monopolies. There is very little control over how much they can raise their rates. Solar finally provides that competition with a cheaper, cleaner, and more predictable rate(payment). For the cash buyers out there you can zero out the usage on your utility bill entirely (standard net metering fee will still apply)!
- Increased Home Value — Solar makes your home more efficient and less expensive to maintain. Realtors are beginning to see this as a huge benefit. Not every home has the luxury of direct sunlight and the fact your home can self-generate energy makes it very desirable. You will find a story or two about how solar held up a sale of a home. It can happen(less than 1% of the time), but with growing popularity and real estate agents becoming more familiar with how to market solar homes it will be a non-issue soon. The few sales that do get held up have reviews posted about the experience. These reviews typically leave out the part that the home did end up selling at the desired price. The process just had a speed bump to smooth out.
- Aesthetics — People like the way panels look on a house. They think the look alone brings perceived value to their home and gives a more sophisticated feeling to the property.
