Louise Linton’s Designer Clothes

I have a few problems with this.

  1. THIS IS NOT NEWS.

I should not even be reading about this horseshit. I am only writing about it because I just had ankle surgery and I literally have nothing better to do.

2. You are all hypocrites.

Looking at you Jenni Miller. Do you comment on every actress’ Instagram when they tag the designers of their clothes? No? Just because she is the wife of a government official? No, you don’t.

You just called someone deplorable. Deplorable. For an Instagram photo. And you get surprised and….upset?! when they return your words in kind?

And she’s right. She probably does more for our economy than you ever will. And you really don’t seem to have a good grasp of how government works. You can’t compare this lady to a Queen of France.

But it doesn’t matter. Do you buy your clothes secondhand or fair trade? If the answer is no, which it is — your clothes were made in the same sweatshops that hers were. Just because she paid more for them and wears them proudly doesn’t make her any worse of a person than any of the rest of us.

3. Louise Linton is her own person.

The Treasury Dude’s New Wife. Are you kidding me? Can we refocus on the habit of the media to reduce women to who their husbands are

Maybe you should focus less on the people that have no power to make people’s lives better, and focus on the ones that do have the power. The first person on that list should be yourself. Do your choices help others? Do your choices even have limited negative impact on others and the environment?

Then focus on your peers, your elected representatives, foundations, organizations, activists of choice, etc.

I don’t like the current administration either. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us get to pull shit like this without me complaining about it.

**Even I have to buy some sweatshop-made clothes, because you can’t get underwear and socks secondhand very easily (ew) and I can’t afford the fair trade ones (two-years out of college, just had ankle surgery. I’m getting there. Are you?)
