Designing for Creative Leaps

Design is a way of life, everything from how we design our day to how we design our time and our relationships. It is the conscious effort we make in manifesting our imagination into real world. And the most exciting part is that each one of us brings to the world our own unique imagination. As a part of the human experience, we are born and most often bred with certain limitations. Limitations that tell us that we cannot drive or paint or maybe code or the most common being “ I am not a creative person.” But the irony is we are actually spending 80% of our time consciously designing our lives or making creative decisions.

Design is defined as purpose or planning that exists behind an action, fact, or object.

Humans are born with many innate instincts. A universal and primary instinct for us is to get better than yesterday. Our brain is designed to consolidate behaviours and habits. Therefore it is often difficult to convince ourselves that we can take the creative leap and learn to look at things afresh. This is where Design Thinking comes in, it is a process that keeps in mind how we can make this motivation for improvement more human and more innovative. One of the main aspects of the Design Thinking process tells us to Fail Early, Fail Fast. Most often we do not try anything new because we do not want to fail.

But what if we told you that failure was actually the key to the door that leads you to creative leaps?
