Let’s talk about how you can save a life… :: 6 ways.

First off, I’m not a writer. I’m a designer. :: Writing is the best way to start conversations and communicate philosophies…

This is part of “The overengineered Ebook” :: A system I’m building to save a few lives from suicide.

One. :: Show you care.

If a homeless guy asks for money, don’t ignore him, say something… :: like… “Not today man, sorry.” or “Sure, clean up 7 pieces of debris (paper) on the street, throw the debris in the trash, and I’ll give you 1 dollar”.

Two :: Show you don’t care.

When an .sshole is being as .sshole, and he tells you exactly what he hates about you… (Say your magic trick… or you’re flirting with his girl [that he mistreats]…) :: Do more of what he hates… :: You’ll save the next guy a whole lot of headaches, because you’re checking his ego… :: Being on the defensive sucks! :: I don’t play defense too often… mainly because I don’t compete with anyone too often.

Three. :: Give value for value.

Abraham Lincoln once said… :: “Never do for a man, what the man can do for himself” <<Paraphrased… :: I believe he implied something like… unless he’s paying you… (Also, Lincoln was totally displeased in the monetary systems America used at the time.)

A man can’t always feed himself in America without cash or $… :: But he can lighten your load (say change your oil or wash your car.)

When people ask me for something for nothing, I kinda say… “What do I get in return?” :: The blank stares are comical. And most of the time, I teach the man to fish, because I have bigger fish to fry.

Four :: Share a smile, dude.

Sometimes, people just need to know that you acknowledge them… (as humans) :: People rarely smile at animals. :: A smile shows… acceptance… not friendship. :: (I’m a body language guy.)

Five :: Make people work VERY hard, and then help them play.

The problem with working in a commercial kitchen is easily solved…

Help them play, after they work.

Skate.boarders, warm up, slay their dragon (capture another progression), then they enjoy their day with a great dinner, and a video game with the homie(s), then wait for their girlfriend to come home from work, then go out for her dinner and his dessert.

More people put in the mental workout (how can I get this guy to like me, so I can make a sale?!), and by the time they get home, they are mentally exhausted… physical exhaustion actually helps you tomorrow… mental exhaustion makes you suicidal. :: Skateboarders love working hard (physically), because we love playing harder, and sleeping better.

Six. :: Get out of the way.

it’s great that you’re trying to help people, but how does this help these skate.boarders? :: (Video below.)

It should be clear, the video clips are rhetorical and metaphors for life. :: Prepare yourself, some clips are pretty heavy…

First clip :: “Unless you wanna be arrested for assault…”- the non.skateboarder… :: News flash lady, he can legally cause you physical harm, because you stole his property. (Also it seems like the lady tried to literally and physically tackle the kid… ):: You may not steal his property because he’s trespassing (dat’s what the cops are for), because he’s not trespassing, until the police inform him he’s trespassing… :: In this case… the skateboarder had NO CLUE who you were. :: You could have broken out of a mental hospital for all the kid knows… (Also, laws may be different in your area… don’t choose violence, there’s 1000 other options.) :: I choose the philosophy “See reality as reality…” Reality is pretty hard to argue with.

The clip at ~7m… the guy was harassing the skateboarder (we didn’t see the skate.boarder. :: We did see the skate.board.) :: Also, the non.skateboarder mentions “this is a private neighborhood”, and I’ve known a few skate.boarders who have lived in private neighborhoods… (oh wait, you know a few skateboarders who live in private neighborhoods!) <<Lies don’t last, why I choose to see reality as reality.

Not all video clips fit the example… (Like the lady at clip ~2m.30s) She asked, the kid pushed his luck. The kid was in her way… All the lady tied to do is imply to go skate somewhere else. (And even had the knowledge on where to suggest!) :: See, reality is fun!
