Background

Gigi Hadid is a Los Angeles native. She started modeling at the age of two with Paul Marciano from Guess. She was signed by IMG Models in 2013. This is when she embarked on her career’s upward trajectory. Since 2013, she has been the face of several brands and walked the runway for the major fashion weeks. She has boosted her individual brand and is seen as the generation of it-girls who has used social media to create a fan following (She has about 27 million followers on Instagram alone)

Looking back at 2016

This year Gigi has catapulted to the upper echelons of the industry. She won the British Fashion Awards Model of the Year. Other than being part of several esteemed fashion shows this year what makes Gigi unique is her business acumen. Her name had become a brand in itself. This year when Tommy Hilfiger launched it’s See- Now-Buy-Now collection in partnership with Gigi in the capsule TommyXGigi collection proved to be profitable. Their partnership will continue next year as well. Later this year, she even announced her collaboration with Stuart Weitzman to bring to market ‘The Gigi Boot’.
