New Media Conference Lagos 2017.

The 3rd edition of the New Media Conference was held at Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday July 27th 2017. It was packed with participants from all works of life, such as Digital marketers, Social media experts, Lawyers, Content managers and PR experts.

The Conference was organized by founder of Olorisupergal.com, Tosin Ajibade and was hosted by Arit Okpo. It had in attendance media experts: Chude Jideonwo, Tosyn Bucknor, Efosa Aiyevbomwan, Larry Madowo, Lamide Akintobi , Bidemi Zakariyau amongst others.

The first topic was upholding standards and professionalism in new media practice.The panelist had a lot to contribute. Chude Jideonwo co-founder of Red Media said “the democratically of the media has reduced the way people lie”, he also said “When you meet a rule ask why? Is the rule for my good or for the minority?

New media content strategy, intellectual property and the future of media in Nigeria, the next topic discussed was moderated by Isabella Akinseye, founder of yellow tamarind productions. During the discussion Kenyan’s columnist and media personality Larry Madowo was of the opinion that “New media and traditional media may complement each other in the future … traditional media will exist in a more diminished way in the future”.

Lamide Akintobi, journalist and TV personality was the moderator of the power packed third session which topic was shaping the future through women leadership and empowerment- the new media approach. Bidemi Zakariyau PR Expert said “As individuals we need to invest in empowering ourselves”. Stephanie Busari told participants that they need to unlearn some behaviors as women. Women were encouraged to change their mind set and tell their authentic story to impact other women.

The fourth session was moderated by Tosyn Bucknor and the panelist discussed opportunities in the new media era: using social media to attract tourism. Chiamaka Obueke, Wonuola Olatunde-Lamidi, Ikechi Uko was on the panel. It was an interesting session.

The special masterclass session also took place featuring lectures from experts like Toba Obaniyi MD Whogohost, Bukonla Kukoyi The Quadrant Company, founder Tech Point NG Adewale Yusuf and Bolu Essien Terragon London.
