Okay, I admit that I was initially biased in favor of the professor — not because she’s white, but because I’m a grumpy 45-year-old and I tend to assume that today’s goddamn college students are complete idiots.
However, I read some of the supporting links that Kayla provided, and it made a very good impression on me when she conceded the point that option “D” was technically correct (i.e., more than 50% of slave households were headed by a mother and father), before going on to make the argument that option “C” was at least as much correct as “D,” or perhaps even a better overall summary of what conditions were like.
On the other hand, it made a very bad impression on me when the professor responded that if she gave Kayla the extra points, she’d have to give the extra points to EVERYBODY, and that would be a complete hassle. (No, Perfesser McSlackass, it’s really simple: you publicly admit to the class that your question was sloppily worded, and adjust Kayla’s score on the quiz — ’cause she EARNED it — without mentioning this to the world.)
So, Student:1 , Professor: 0
