Waiting for the Ferry
I am guided by wheels on the pavement,
Rushing past parked cars and passers-by.
I am heading out of the hustle bustle and the angry industry
Out to solitary shorelines and your family.
I am always early.
The slow world spins herself,
Propelling my crossing wave by wave.
I don’t want to get lost in sentimentality.
The truth is a stronger ache.
More than pages of poems
And whispered pleasantries.
I dove in-
The struggle should be to rise to catch my breath,
But here I am suspended in the blue-eyed depths.
