I know that it will look like I couldn’t accept others critic by defending myself every time I got into the situation.

When criticism or opinion from other is perceived as a threat, that defense begins. Deep down inside we know that what other said is true but our brain detects as a threat, we build the defense mechanism. We argue with person who said it or yell by saying that it’s not true or say mean things. We busy to find ways to emotionally defend ourselves because we don’t like being in the situation. Our pride is being hurt. If we cannot say out loud, we use self talk to defend it.

All defenses might look like an excuse so others will accept the reason behind the behavior. By the end what we want is to be accepted by other human so we won’t feel lonely.
