Lord Vishnu’s Incarnations: The Eternal Battle Between Good and Evil
“यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत ।
(Yada yada hi dharmasya glanirbhavati bharata)
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥
(Abhythanamadharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham)
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् ।
(Paritranaya sadhunang vinashay cha dushkritam)
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥
(Dharmasangsthapanarthay sambhabami yuge yuge)”
You are definately wondering what is the meaning of this slokas or lines?
These are the famous lines said by Shri Krishna which simply means Whenever there is a loss of religion on this earth, the work of destruction takes place and unrighteousness progresses, then I come to this earth and incarnate on this earth.
According to Hinduism, there are four Yugas or Eras — “Satyuga”, “Tretayuga”, “Dwaparyuga” and lastly “Kalyuga”. This is believed that Kalyuga or the last yuga is going on. Shri Krishna’s death is marked as the end of Dwaparyuga and starting of Kalyuga. According to Purans, Kalyuga’s span is approximately 4,32,000 years, and out of that 5124 years are already over.
As this is the starting phase of Kaliyuga, there are some devotion and love for god that is left in human beings. But it is believed that by the end of this yuga, devotion to god, the inner goodness of people, trust in each other, and simplicity in human beings will come to an end. People will come down to take the life of a distant person. people will become cannibals. Then this place will not be meant for any human being.
In such a situation, only one life can be happy and that is Kali (कलि). Kali will be such a devil who will lead all this. He will be happy seeing a human being as an enemy of another human being. He will be happy whenever evil will win over good. He will be happy when one human will eat another human. People will worship Kali as their God or Guru. He just has one aim — “Destroy this world, where humans cannot live”.
Here the time comes when the savior of this world is born as “Kalki”. This is lord Vishnu’s tenth Avatar or tenth form after Matsya, Kurma, Varah, Narshimha, Vamana, Parshurama, Rama, Krishna, and Buddha.
It is said that when evil will cross its limit, Kalki will be born. He will be born in Sambhal in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Till he grows up or defeats Kali, 7 long lives or Chiranjeevi will help him throughout the process. According to Puranas, 7 Chiranjeevi are Hanuman, Ved Vayas, Parshuram, Raja Bali, Ashwathama, Vibishan, and Guru Kripacharya.
It has been seen every time that whenever evil has raised its head, good has done its work and defeated evil. Kaliki will be the end of this world and starting of a new era. There are many religion along with Hinduism which claims the end of this world such as Armageddon Apocalypse in Christianity and Qayamat Ka Din in Islam. Even Science claims that one-day Meteoroids and comets will collide with Earth and the Earth will end.
Ultimately, whenever evil will raise its head and try to destroy this world, Lord Vishnu will incarnate and save his beautiful world.
