With my partner Jean-Baptiste Huguenin, who is the business part of the team (I’m the IT part), we are building 7 apps in 14 weeks starting today.

This project is a challenge we set up for ourselves.

We’ll share with you all the details in the following posts. But I want to share with you the process we’ll use for the creation of these apps.

Why we do that ?

1- Because we can do it. This possibility is highly related to the tools we are using. Elm and Athlete are a big part of the equation.

2- Because we are explorers, not managers. We want to explore as many ideas as possible.

3- Because if we have a ratio of 1 on 7, we are good !

The process

1- We go to a forest or any outdoor place for one full day. We walk, write whatever we think of as ideas. Ideas go from real estate to zero waste.

2- We select the best idea we have. To do that, we take in consideration the cost, the time to develop, and the return of investment for potential clients (especially if the problem we want to solve is worth solving for them).

3- We design an app. The idea here is to have the simplest possible solution to the problem we identified.

4- We code the app. Elm and Athlete (github.com/elm-athlete/athlete) is here to help us develop fast and reliably.

5- We push the app to a group of ideal customer/client profiles. And to keep it simple, we choose and focus on one marketing channel (Google, Linkedin, Facebook, emails…) for a week.

7- Go to 1

And now, let’s unveil our first app : NoMeetings which stands for Not Only Meetings

People always complain about useless meetings. Meetings they need to go, because if they don’t, then, their hierarchy won’t be happy, or worse, they could even get fired for not coming.

The app we are going to develop is a shield for them. It’s a simple app to handle meetings with success.

1- Define objectives at the beginning of the meeting (or even before).

2- Take notes while the meeting is happening.

3- Check your objectives.

4- Share the notes and the achieved objectives to your team.

Thanks to Jean-Baptiste Huguenin
