I’m not sure what to think about this… I really like the Channels and Longform articles. I really like the editorial work and curation going through Backchannel and Matter (which I’ve been following since its inception, prior to the acqui-hire)

However, with this new direction, I’m trying to understand if it comes from a desire to experiment, or from necessity…

It feels like Medium is slowly turning into something closer to Quora or even the first iteration of Branch, with a much bigger emphasis on discussion. But I don’t think it needed to.

Interestingly, a few years back, I witnessed a few people claiming that Medium was the equivalent of a content-farm 2.0 (I guess they weren’t entirely wrong). However as much as I like change and seeing products evolve, I can’t say I saw this one coming. It doesn’t seem like such a natural obvious evolution.

Let’s give it a few months and see what comes out of it…
