When we started working on Tickle 1.0 for iPad, our goal was to inspire and prepare kids for the connected future. Tickle had to be easy to learn for kids (and the 99.9% of adults who are new to programming), yet powerful enough that professional software developers like us would enjoy using.

Thanks to our amazing Kickstarter backers, we iterated through 30 beta releases and launched the world’s first app to program drones, robots, and smart homes in March this year. Since then, prominent educators/software developers at UC Berkeley and Code.org have called Tickle “the most awesome blocks programming environment for iPad” and “Fantastic. Program multiple robots, drones, and smart-toys, using a familiar interface.

We are excited to share that we’ve brought the power and ease of use of Tickle to iPhone and iPod Touch. Tickle 2.0 supports all iOS devices running iOS 8 and 9. We’ve optimized the UI for all screen sizes, from 3.5-inch iPhone 4s, to 5.5-inch iPhone 6s, to 9.7-inch iPads. It also connects to even more of your favorite devices, including Dash & Dot, Parrot mini quadcopters and self-balancing robots, Sphero, Ollie, LightBlue Bean (Arduino), and Philips Hue/Lux lighting systems.

“Don’t just play on your phone, program it.” said US President Barrack Obama. Now you can with Tickle 2.0.

We feel incredibly honored and inspired by educators and parents around the world who are using Tickle to teach coding, and also Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEM/STEAM). Being educators and parents ourselves, we will continue to make Tickle accessible on more devices and we look forward to your feedback.

Download Tickle 2.0 for free from the App Store.
